REPAIRS

"Pete is my first choice for string instrument repair." -Karl Wohlwend, Performing Artist.

I also offer a complete range of repairs at competitive rates. From setups to complete restorations, my 25 yrs of experience help ensure that your guitar will come back to you playing like butter and looking great! I am one of the only luthiers in the area to be expert in the application of french polish shellac- the only finish to use on a fine classical.

Here's some photos of "horror story" repairs and tricky restoration projects

Interior shot: This is what NOT to do! This '62 Gibson J-50 came in with the interior covered with Gorilla glue. The bridgeplate had fractured and part of it had been replaced with a 3/8" thick piece of mahogany. The headstock of the guitar was held together with a row of pickguard screws! "Repairs" like this are the reason to take your guitar to a qualified repairman

I'm not limited to guitars; here's an early 1900's era Suzuki mandolin that came in with a poorly done replacement fretboard. I made and installed a new ebony board with the proper scale length.
